Flying Saucer Maiden Flight (June 9, 2005)

(Click on any picture to see a larger version)

Took my new Roy Clough, Jr "Flying Saucer" out for the first time.
Power was a Mega 16/15/4, eight KAN1050's, Castle Phx35, and a Polk's 6x4 folder.
Next flights will be testing various props to find the sweet one.

Radio gear is a Hitec Eclipse 7, FMA 6-channel receiver, and three HS-55's.
AUW as described above is 20.3 ounces.

Ian show's it off. He drove the still camera for the flight shots.

Andy show's it off too. He drove the Saucer

And we get Anthony (he drove the video camera, below).

And my Dad (Phil) got in on the action - 30 years after he built the same design.

This thing glided very nicely, flat and smooth.
Here you can see it less than a foot above the ground.

Only about 30 years between these two photos...

Watch the video of the maiden flight - nothing fancy, just trimming and flying.
4:30 of video, 42 Meg to download.
